Make Room for You

Many potential clients come to me because they are ready for a change. They’re too busy managing the now to get excited for the future. Or they can imagine their new life, but can’t see the steps to get there.

Can you relate?

Mel Jolly, a blogger I follow, likes to use the term “Future You.” If “Present You” is not living the life or having the business you want, then what does “Future You” want? In her book, Becoming Future You, the premise is to figure out who “Future You” is and then start creating that life now.

If you’re starting to think about working with a virtual assistant, consider your vision for “Future You” and your business.

  • What are your goals?
  • What would it look like if you reached them?
  • How would it feel?

Often there are too many roadblocks in the way to form a clear vision of the future. We’ve got to make room to become the person and business owner we dream of being. That could be clearing space in our head to think positive thoughts or releasing negative blocks. It could mean scaling back on time commitments to create breathing room to dream. Or it could be decluttering our physical space to give our eyes an empty space to focus on.

The Universe likes to fill a void.

I am a firm believer that the best way to unblock yourself is to clear a space, like clearing out a drawer, filing the stack of papers on the edge of your desk, or purging a closet. It could mean checking items off your to-do list, saying “no” to an event you don’t want to attend, or handing off a time stealing task to a virtual assistant.

What can you do now to become the “Future You” version of yourself?

What baby step(s) can you take to get the ball rolling?

Imagine your goals are a large boulder, but little pebbles are lodged at its base keeping it from rolling downhill. If you clear the pebbles, the boulder will eventually start rolling. As it rolls, it picks up momentum and clears the way for more dreams to appear.

What pebbles are blocking your way?

  • If it’s money, can you raise your rates?
  • If it’s time, can you let go of a client who is taking up space, but doesn’t fit anymore?
  • If it’s energy, can you clear space of tasks that drain you rather than energize you?

Whatever is standing in your way, you owe it to “Future You” to start clearing the blocks. I can help!
